Podiatrist Questions Podiatrist

Do I need to get my toe checked out?

I was running and fell and my toenail broke and now my toe looks all purple and black and green. It hurts to even step on and I’m not sure what to do.

You can go to an urgent care or ER where X-rays can be done and treatment can be initiated.
I recommend you to get to podiatrist asap. likely theres a deeper issue like laceration under the nail.

It's best to be evaluated by a specialist
Since it hurts, you should see a podiatrist and it will easily be taken care of.
Hello. Yes you should see a foot doctor
yes
I would say yes because you want to make sure you don’t have a fracture of the toe as well.

Thank you,

Get an X-ray to rule out fracture. If no fracture, then nail probably separated from nail bed and bled underneath. May have to remove nail and let new nail grow in.

YOU NEED TO GO TO A PODIATRIST, HE NEEDS TO CHECK WHAT KIND OF DAMAGE YOU HAVE, IT COULD BE BROKEN OR A SIMPLE BRUISE, BUT YOU CANNOT BE SURE UNLESS YOU GET YOUR TOE EXAMINED BY A PROFESSIONAL.
It sounds like it may be more than just the nail, so yes, it should be checked.
Get x-ray.
Yes you do need an evaluation
I recommend you make an appointment with a foot and ankle surgeon (podiatrist) ASAP for evaluation and treatment options
You do NOT need to see a physician for this problem. You have a subungual hematoma (bleeding beneath the nail plate). Eventually it will lift and separate from the nail bed, and will likely fall off on its own. A new nail will eventually grow back-this takes about 9 months after injury for the new nail to fully grow in
