All children 6 months of age or older should receive a vaccination for influenza or the flu shot. Children under the age of 9 who have never received a flu shot should receive 2 of them, one month apart.   There are several brands of flu vaccines made for small children. Please consult with your doctor to see if they have this available.
Any child under eight years old getting the flu shot for the first time needs two doses a month apart. That helps give the immune system enough information to truly fight the flu. Your baby has to be six months old in order to get a flu shot.

You need 2 flu shots in the same season the first time you get them if you are under the age of 8 years.
