Yes, sometimes the initial braces will widen your arch and make your teeth "spaced out" and look funny. It is the part of the process. Good news is you will look amazing upon finishing your orthodontic treatment. Hang in there!

I do not know how you got that information except from an old saying that things have to get worse before they get better. No, your teeth will steadily improve with progress. Each month will get better. Trust me I know!
