“Do dental implants get plaque?”
I am a 39 year old male. I want to know if dental implants get plaque?

Absolutely, YES! Plaque is bacteria. You can't eliminate the bacteria in your mouth, so it's going to collect on anything in the mouth. Implants require just as much maintenance as teeth. You can get peri-implantitis and lose an implant due to gum disease.
Hi,
Plaque will form on all structure in your mouth including implant crowns. Implants don’t get cavities, but are highly susceptible to periodontal (gum) issues! Peri-implantitis or periodontal disease around implants are a main cause for implant failures.
Hope this helps.

Everything in the mouth acquires plaque and requires brushing, flossing, and professional periodic cleanings to stay healthy.
