Do they put you to sleep for oral cyst surgery?

I was diagnosed with a cyst in my mouth. Do they put you to sleep for oral cyst surgery?

It depends on the type of cyst. If it is superficial and/or small that can be removed under local anesthesia then the surgeon will perform under local. If it is big and deep, then general anesthesia is required to benefit both the patient and the surgeon.
Not necessarily; a variety of variables play a role in what type of anesthesia to provide for each patient and each procedure type. You should discuss these variables and options with you surgeon prior to proceeding.

That depends on your preference. If you go to a dentist or Oral Surgeon certified in dental sedation, you certainly can request IV sedation to remove a cyst. Depending on the location and size of the cyst, the dentist will let you know your options for sedation.
In our practice, to ensure complete comfort and safety during surgical procedures, we offer a wide range of sedative options from nitrous oxide to general anesthesia. If you need to be put completely to sleep during your procedure, we can accommodate you.

Cyst removal is performed routinely under local anesthesia. You may also choose to be sedated for the entire procedure to ensure an anxiety-free experience.
