Do you get braces after jaw surgery?

I am a 20 year old female. I wonder if you get braces after jaw surgery?

Typically one has braces to get set up for surgery, the braces remain on during the surgery and then are used to finalize the tooth positions after surgery. There is a procedure called surgery first where braces are put on with no wires, the surgery is done and then the orthodontic treatment comes after the surgery!
Usually, you get braces before jaw surgery, and then you keep them on during and after the surgery. Any final details with your smile and bite are completed with the braces after the surgery.

There are two schools of thought but it still depends on what will make a surgical correction the best for you. A case can be made for surgery first then braces but there are times when braces need to be placed first with some treatment necessary before the surgery then finishing treatment after surgery. Experienced oral surgeons and orthodontists with orthognathic surgery will know which will work out the best for you
It's hard to know without knowing the specifics of your situation. Many times braces are put on BEFORE jaw surgery. The idea would be to get teeth aligned well with an imperfect bite prior to moving the jaw. This makes sure that the bite is ideal after the jaw is moved.

Yes. Usually depending on your bite and teeth.
It's normal to have braces on prior to jaw surgery. After the surgery, braces are needed to help fine-tune the bite, and it will be very important to wear rubber bands to fix the bite. It's common to have the braces for 6 months to 1.5 years after surgery depending on what the surgeon was able to accomplish with the jaw surgery.
