Do you get results immediately after a colonoscopy?

I am a 49 year old male. I want to know if you get results immediately after a colonoscopy?

The doctor will tell you what was found on the colonoscopy. Generally if there were any polyps, hemorrhoids, or diverticulosis. Any biopsies or removal of polyps are sent to a pathologist who reviews them. Results are usually back in 1 to 3 business days.

The endoscopist will get immediate results in terms of what is visualized during the exam. Doctors differ on how much is shared with the patient after they wake up. I routinely tell my patients what I saw before they go home, but some doctors prefer to wait until the patient comes back to the office.
If any biopsies are done, these results will take around 3-7 days to come back.
