“Do you stay in hospital after hernia surgery?”
I will have hernia surgery next week. Do you stay in hospital after hernia surgery?

Patients having surgery for small ventral/umbilical hernias or inguinal hernias will typically go home the same day. Patients with larger ventral hernias or those requiring a complex reconstruction will typically stay in the hospital.
It depends on the hernia, how extensive. Depends if it’s laparoscopic or open. If it’s going to be done in same day surgery, then likely yes. You should ask your surgeon for that detail before your surgery.
Good luck.
Good luck.
Depends on what type of hernia it is and how acute it is. If it's an umbilical hernia, it's same-day surgery. If it's abdominal surgery, the patient should be kept in the hospital, especially if a mesh has been used. If it's inguinal surgery, the patient may be able to go home the same day depending on the age and condition of the patient. But often men have a problem urinating after this surgery so they shouldn't be sent home until they have voided.
