Depending on the size and location of the stones, surgery can be considered as a solution, but it is not always the only consideration.

It can, depending on the size and type of the stone. You may not require surgery if the stone is small enough to pass on it's on. Drinking plenty of water is a good way to prevent kidney stones. If you have calcium stones, reducing calcium may also help. Talk to your doctor about the size and type of your kidney stones to see if surgery is necessary or not.
