“Eardrum?”
I collided with my grandnephew while playing at the beach and his head hit my ear. I don't have any pain but when I blow my nose, it feels like hot air is coming out of that ear. Is the eardrum perforated?

It is possible to have a perforated eardrum from a collision. Some perforations are not painful; it all depends on the position of the damage. An audiologist can look at the eardrum and see if it is damaged, and may even perform a test called tympanometry to objectively check for a perforation. The eardrum is usually able to heal itself if given time, usually a few weeks for a small perforation; however, the audiologist you see will be able to help determine if this needs other medical care. Try to avoid letting water into the ear while it is healing.

You should see an Audiologist or Ear-Nose-Throat doctor. They can visually look into the ear to see if there is a hole in the eardrum and/or use a Tympanometer to detect if there is even a very small hole in the eardrum (tympanic membrane).
It could be, but usually, an ear drum will bleed when it's perforated. An audiologist can test your hearing and perform a 'tympanogram', which evaluates the continuity of the eardrum and the middle ear pressure. If it is perforated, it will most likely heal on its own in a few weeks. If it does not, then go see an ENT to discuss repair.
A perforation is possible. These typically heal on their own in a few weeks to months. A microscopic ear exam by an ENT can verify this.

It is possible that you may have a perforated TM. I encourage you to seek consultation with an Ear, Nose, Throat physician.
Is your hearing in that ear affected? A perforation is possible. It would be important to get that examined and until then keep it protected from water or other contamination that might cause an infection.

It would definitely be worth looking into, given your symptoms. You could go to your primary care or walk-in clinic for an otoscopic. If perforated, you would need to be seen by an otolaryngologist.
