Dermatologist Questions Eyelashes

Eyelashes

My boyfriend has an eyelash that has been going into his eye and bothering him. He’s cut it, tried plucking them but the irritation won’t go away and he does not want to go spend 200$ on a visit to the doctor. Is there something else I can do to stop the irritation? I tried cutting it and putting Vaseline to ease any dryness. But nothing is working

As your eyelashes are turning inward it may scratch your cornea and that could lead to more problems so I would suggest to go and see an ophthalmologist
If your boyfriend’s eyelash is still bothering him after three days, it might be:

An ingrown eyelash – A lash growing the wrong way and scratching his eye.
A tiny piece of hair or dust – Something stuck in his eye.
Irritation or infection – His eye may be red or swollen from constant rubbing.
Try This at Home:
Rinse the eye – Use clean water or saline solution to wash out any dust or tiny hairs.
Use eye drops – Artificial tears (from a pharmacy) can help soothe the irritation.
Warm compress – Hold a warm, damp cloth over his eye for a few minutes to help with discomfort.
Check for a hidden eyelash – If you can see one poking into his eye, try to gently remove it with clean tweezers.
When to See a Doctor:
If the irritation doesn’t get better soon.
If the eye becomes red, swollen, or painful.
If there’s blurry vision or pus.
If he wants a cheaper option, an urgent care clinic or optometrist may cost less than a hospital visit.

Hello there! There are different reason the eyelids/eyelashes can behave abnormal eg inflammation or infection. I recommend see a physician to diagnose this because a scratch or abrasion of the cornea of the eyeball is much more painful.
