How can I make my child's recovery easier?

My son is due to have a tonsillectomy at the end of the month. He's not so nervous about it any more, but I want to know about the best ways to help him in his recovery. What can I do for him to make it as painless as possible?

Such foods may Include raw vegetables, bread mixed with meat, fried foods, and spicy foods. It is best to eat soft foods like mashed potatoes and apple sauce and to eat foods they are not too hot. Cold foods may sooth the throat after surgery. It as important to get plenty of rest and drink plenty of fluids.
