“How can I treat the pain of a root canal?”
I have root canal pain. What can I take? Should I see a doctor?

Yes you need to see a doctor.
If you have an infection, taking antibiotics will help ease the pain but will not necessarily take car of the source of the infections. A doctor, specifically a dentist can figure out if the tooth is infected and if it can be saved.

If you just completed a root canal you should not bite on the tooth and anti-inflammatory medicine can help manage the pain
Also make sure the tooth in question is out of occlusion meaning the bite of that particular tooth was reduced so you cannot feel the tooth when you bite down on all your other teeth.
If you do feel pain when you bite after several days you may need to adjust the bite.
If you think you’re in need of a root canal then you should go see your dentist.

Do you mean you are experiencing pain following root canal therapy? If so, Ibuprofen/Advil/ Motrin would help. Take them according to the instructions on the package. If the pain does not subside in three days, visit the treating dentist.
Usually, root canal pain lasts just a few days. Ibuprofen usually fixes that. If it lasts longer than that you need to see your dentist.
See your endodontist (root canal specialist) ASAP. Meds may help, but cannot cure the problem. Good Luck.
