How does the liver disease affect anesthesia?

I have liver disease and will have surgery under general anesthesia. How does the liver disease affect anesthesia?

1 Answer

Usually liver disease is not a problem. The potent inhalation agents are exhaled through the lungs; narcotics are metabolized by the liver, but usually used in lower concentrations to "smooth out" the anesthesia; in concentrations used, they do not present any problems.
