It depends; Normally if a seizure lasts less than 2 minutes and the patient seems to recover rapidly, you Normally contact your doctor and advise of such episode for further instructions. If the seizure lasts longer than two minutes then call 911 and if you have a rescue medication administer it. Once paramedics are there they will asses the condition and decide if transport to the Emergency room is indicated or contacting your doctor for further instructions is indicated. Hope this offers some guidance. Good luck. Dr F. Sent from AOL on Android
If the person is awake and having tonic seizures, where they may have tremors, leg jerking etc., do nothing. If the person is having a grand mal seizure where they are unresponsive have fallen to the ground and are unresponsive. Remove everything around them that could hurt them. Do not try to place anything between their teeth as that may injure both of you. if they have a build up of mucus around their nose or mouth wipe slowly and gently to remove. As long as they are breathing don't try to restrain them.
