How long after getting braces can I eat normally?

I had braces put on 2 days ago. I still have soft foods. How long after getting braces can I eat normally?

Usually about 3 days
When you are in braces, you can never eat “normally” because you have to avoid everything hard and everything sticky. If that is not something you are willing to do, consider Invisalign.
The sooner the better, in fact the dental exercise of eating helps blood flow nourish all the cells that contribute to tooth movement. I recommend chewing on a plastic wafer we give to our patients to reduce the discomfort whereas taking things too easy prolongs tenderness. So get back to chewing.
You may progress to 'regular' foods as your teeth permit. If the teeth are sore, then eat what you can tolerate and move up from there!! Just remember, nothing hard or sticky, your orthodontist probably gave you a list of foods to avoid. Those are troublesome as they can cause breakage of the braces and set you back!
Typically, you can get back to your normal diet after 3-4 days. Some people require a little bit longer.

You can eat normally now. Soft food the first day then progress to regular food as tolerated. Still no hard or sticky food as long as you have braces. Thanks. Dr. Price
