Normally, 1-3 days.
Inguinal and umbilical hernias are typically done as outpatient surgeries where you go home the same day. Ventral or incisional hernias may be outpatient or inpatient procedures, depending on the size, and if the procedure is being done via an open or minimally invasive approach. You may spend 0-3 days in the hospital. For large complex hernias requiring abdominal wall reconstruction, you may spend up to a week in the hospital.
