How long does a tooth extraction and bone graft take to stop hurting?

I am a 47 year old female. I want to know how long does a tooth extraction and bone graft take to stop hurting?

It depends on the severity of the extraction. If it's simple, then 4-6 weeks. If it's a complex extraction, it may take longer.
At least 3-6 weeks on average
48 hours as an average
There are a couple of factors that can play into the healing process, including:

- How long did the extraction take?
- Was it surgical or simple? Meaning did they have to flap the soft tissue and remove bone or section the tooth?
- Do you have a more complex medical history?

In general, the most inflammation will occur in the first 3-4 days. By day 4, the tenderness should gradually improve over the next 2 weeks. If the pain is worsening between days 3-5, then go back to your doctor and have them evaluate the site for dry socket (alveolar osteitis) or for bony sequestra.
It could take up to a week or two depending on the extent of the surgery. If there was drilling done, then it will take longer. If it's already been a week or two, you might have dry socket, which means exposed bone.
Normally and typically, post-operative pain after an extraction with standard bone graft placed into the extraction socket is most prominent up to 24 hours with swelling up to 48 hours and will gradually decrease as time persists. Of course, this varies from one patient to another with many other factors (such as age, medical conditions, etc.) that can contribute to the pain time frame and healing process.
This is tough to gauge. Everyone heals at a different rate. Also, without knowing how the extraction went (was the tooth impacted, infection present, etc.), that may also delay healing. We usually see our patients 1 week after an extraction/grafting, and the majority of them have been pain free by then. Some will have some discomfort, and very few still have pain. If you
are concerned, please contact your provider and I'm sure they will be able to help you.

Healing time for any surgical procedure depends on the patient's medical background and history as well as the procedure itself and materials used. I will typically tell patients that the area can be sore for up to 3-4 weeks, with the most pain and soreness occurring within the first 3-5 days.
