Anesthesiologist Questions Dental anesthesia

How long does dental anesthesia last?

I'm going to need an extraction soon, so I know I'm going to need anesthesia for it as well. But I'm just wondering, how long does dental anesthesia last, usually?

2-4 hours
This depends on several factors. These include the type of anesthesia used, location it is placed, amount used, if a reversal agent was used, how much epinephrine is present, and how your body processes the anesthesia. Typically, patients will feel effects of dental anesthesia from 2-4 hours.
