Depends on the cause
6-8 weeks if o jury
It depends on the cause of the swelling. If it is an ankle sprain, it takes 6 weeks and must be protected to heal. If it is venous insufficiency(a circulatory problem) it will resolve after about 1 months of compression stockings.  It is never normal so you should have it checked by a podiatrist.Dr. Kathleen Neuhoff
It depends on why it is swollen. You could have had a sprain/injury, you might have a vascular problem, you might be retaining fluid, you may have a cyst. Go see a specialist
Swelling can last for months, depending on the cause. I recommend you make an appointment with a foot and ankle surgeon (podiatrist) for diagnosis and treatment options.
It might take several months. Consult with your local podiatrist.
The answer is depends, depends on the root cause of the swollen ankle. the ankle will heal once the root cause is addressed and treated.
