How long does it take to recover from spinal cord surgery?

I need to have surgery to remove a tumor on my spinal cord, but my doctor hasn't told me how long the recovery period for this surgery would be. How long does it take to fully recover from this kind of surgery?

Generally, it takes about a full year to completely recover from a surgery as big as that.
This recovery from this type of surgery is dependent on what type of tumor is being removed and from what part of the spinal cord. I would strongly encourage you to fully discuss all risks of surgery with your neurosurgeon and the expected outcome including length of recovery. Only the operating surgeon can answer these questions for you.
