This is a difficult question to answer because there are many variables. These include age, weight, activity level, any previous injury, ligament or meniscal injury. This should be discussed with your surgeon. Very generally the larger and more of the underlying bone involved the longer it takes. Easily can take 3-6 months and some do not work and ultimately a joint replacement is needed. Your surgeon can be more specific based on your radiographs, MRI and the information you have shared with them. Good luck.
The cartilage forms in approximately 6 weeks, but it can take up to 8 months before you are able to perform impact activities.

3-4 months until you can do any significant sports or work.

Hope it helps!!
