I will have a colonoscopy next week. How long does sedation last after a colonoscopy procedure?

It depends on which drug is used.
Propofol: recovery in 5-15 minutes.
Midazolam: 15-45 minutes.

Recovery time also depends on your age, comorbidities, how long the procedure took to complete, ow much IV sedation was used, and how fast you metabolize the drug.
You should be awake almost immediately after the procedure and feel groggy for several hours. It is not recommended that you not drive the day of your procedure, but should be fine by the next day.
It depends on your weight, it may take longer to clear the body if one is overweight or obese.
