In general, for most jaw procedures, the swelling will typically increase for the first 2-3 days, and reduce there after. Typically it takes 5-7 days for most of the swelling to dissipate. Depending on the nature of the procedure, the swelling may sometimes last much longer. Icing helps a lot for the 1st 48 hours, along with elevation of head with extra pillows while sleeping.

As always these are general guidelines and we do recommend speaking with your doctor regarding your particular situation.

Most of the facial swelling should resolve after 2-3 weeks, with some residual puffiness present up to 4-6 weeks after surgery. There may also be some facial bruising which may descend towards the neckline.
Swelling can last from 3-7 days.
