A hernia is not structural and needs to heal at your body's pace. However, chiropractic can help correct any misalignments that may free up your body's distribution of nutrients to speed up the process of healing. The main thing with a hernia is following the surgeon's orders to let it heal without disrupting it.
That depends on how complicated (healthy or unhealthy) the area that is injured is. Sometimes pains can reduce in 4-6 visits, other times 1-2 months on average in our office.
Chiropractic treatment in and of itself will not reduce a herniated disc, although, some chiropractors incorporate 'disc traction' therapy that has been said to sometimes retract a disc hernia to a small percentage.
