No time is necessary. May have a bit of pain when freezing wears off, but not severe.
You will receive IV sedation and after the procedure you will be taken to a recovery area. Plan to have someone to drive you back home. You can continue your daily activities as soon as you feel adequate. However, it is recommended not submerging the skin area of biopsy in water (no swimming or wetting the area), and not strenuous exercises for at least a week. Please, check with your healthcare provider. Thank you.
most patients that undergo a bone marrow biopsy will be back to normal by the next day. Sometimes sedation is used. If that is the case, you should not drive until next day. If no sedation is used, the recovery time is very short (1-2 hours).
You may resume your activities the same day.
Usually only a day or two. The site where the biopsy may still be sore for longer.
You may feel sore for a day or two, but it’s usually not too bad. Younger patients often have more pain afterwards than older.
Normally, immediately.
