Family Practitioner Questions Blood Tests

How often should I have a full blood test?

I am about to have blood test next week to measure my blood sugar levels. Do you think that I should be having a blood test every year? How often?

Normal blood glucose is between 70 – 100 mg/dL or 80 – 110 mg/dL depending on the lab. A blood test is used to check diabetes. Hemoglobin A1c is the test used besides measuring your blood sugar level on empty stomach. Now, I don’t know your medical history and is best to check with your healthcare provider on how often you need to check your blood. Every patient is different and have many different conditions. Thank you.
The frequency of blood tests and which blood test you should be having our based on Your current medical history, the chronic medical conditions in which you may or may not have and your personal and familial risk factors. There are certain panels that are recommended after a certain age to be done every so often but there’s no set time line unless you are following a chronic disease process.
