OB-GYN (Obstetrician-Gynecologist) Questions Spermicide

How would I know if I'm allergic to spermicide?

My boyfriend and I just started to use condoms that have spermicide on them. I've never had issues with condoms before, but with these, I've been experiencing itchiness and irritation after sex. I compared these new condoms with our old ones, and spermicide was the main difference between them. I think I might be allergic to it, but how would it be tested?

If the irritation only occurs when using the condoms with spermicide, stop using them.
You would get irritation every time you would use the product. You could also try to put it on your arm and see if you get a reaction.
Stop using the condoms with spermicide at least for 1-2 weeks, and the itching and irritation after intercourse should go away. If it still persists, see your OBGyn to rule out any other infection.

Take care!
Try intercourse with a condom with spermaticide and another time without it and see the difference.
