Orthopedist Questions Back Pain

I have a bulge in my back bone at the bottom. Can it be treated with surgery?

I am a 34 year old woman and I have a small bulge at the bottom of my backbone. This bulge pains a lot when I stand or sit for too long. What can I do to get rid of this pain. Is surgery the right option to consider?

First things first.Let an Orthopedic Doctor examine you and get an x-ray and possible an MRI.
Surgery may be an option.
I would recommend that you see an orthopedic surgeon who will be able to evaluate the "bump" and determine what the cause is. Some deformities which are painful can be corrected by surgery.
First of all, use foam seat cushion and medications.
There are a lot of possibilities as to what the bulge is, soft tissue, cyst, bones are the most likely. The history is essential, how long has it been present, any direct or indirect that's, any tingling in your extremities as a start. X-rays are essential as well to start the workup to diagnose and then options of treatment can be considered.
Generally boney protrusions are not treated surgically. The best option is to get this lump evaluated to determine it's consistency and make a plan. Therapy programs, injections and mdications may be a better option than surgery.
I think we can help you, but you will need physical exam and review of imaging studies to better understand source of your pain.
Surgery may be part of the solution.
Kind regards

For a small bulge, surgery will probably not be the first treatment option considered.
