Naturopathic Physician Questions Lupus

I have lupus. How can I treat it naturally?

Medications prescribed for me in the past have not worked. Are there ways I can naturally treat my lupus?

It depends on the severity of your condition. But any autoimmune disease can be improved with diet. There are other things that may help including peptide therapy and certain IV therapies. Working with a regenerative medicine doctor may help you.
Yes! So many options are out there for natural treatment to help regulate the immune system and decrease pain and inflammation.
This is extremely specific for your individual case, though, so I recommend seeing a Naturopathic Doctor for specific recommendations.
Provided you have good liver and kidney functions currently. There is usually a significant inflammatory component to this disease.

Inflammation and symptoms can be decreased by : Fish Oil, Salmon or Tuna at least 4x a week.

Herbals for over 2000 years have significantly inhibit inflammation: Curcumin, a mix of Boswellia and Willow Bark.

Bio-identical Natural Cortef( cortisone) 15-20mg each morning is safer than 5mg of prescribed Prednisone. Cortef does not suppress the adrenal glands. Prednisone does.

DHEA 200mg daily lowers the dosage of prednisone needed reducing its toxicity.

Probiotic pears for the gut.
From Naturopathy is a condition where toxins invade the cell, becoming part of the connective tissue and matrix, destroying numerous groups of cells, damaging the organ or organs. From the psychobiology is caused by the combination of at least three conflicts that appear simultaneously. Self-devaluation, conflict that affects bones and joints, causing pain and joint inflammation. Conflict of uprooting or feeling completely alone and abandoned that affects the kidney, causing a retention of fluid and edema (inflammation) in the body and separation conflict that affects the skin, especially the epidermis causing the typical skin rashes of SLE. Recommendations:

1.      Hair analysis is suggested to determine levels of heavy metals, excess or mineral deficiency and recommended nutrition.

2.       Detox

3.       Homeopathy. For this is important to answer the homeopathic questionnaire

4.      Homotoxicology

5.       Digestiveenzymes

6.       Tone withAcupressure or Electro acupuncture specific points

Hello,

Lupus is an auto-immune disorder. Prescribed meds have lots of side-effects and are sometimes patient specific. Another approach is to improve on your diet and lifestyle in order to calm down the immune system. Additionally, use nutrients to provide additional support or as needed.

Take care,

Dr. T
Yes. This is a much more complex illness, and there is NOT and never will be one natural agent to treat it. I highly recommend you work with an integrative medicine physician. A pearl though is to start introducing 2 tbsp ground flaxseeds into your diet, as this can reduce the incidence of lupus-induced kidney failure.
Hello,

Since lupus is an autoimmune disease, there is no "one size fits all" with natural therapies. When it comes to autoimmune diseases, I aim to balance the immune system, I always begin with recommending an anti-inflammatory diet, elimination diet, or blood-type diet and work from there based on the individual. Sometimes we have to perform a food allergy panel because certain foods (even foods that are healthy) and cause the immune system to become imbalance. Second, I repair the gastrointestinal tract (leaky gut). I do typically recommend herbals, but on an individual basis because there are several herbs that can trigger an autoimmune response. I recommend finding a functional medicine physician, naturopathic physician, or acupuncturist to help assist you.
Yes, I do fix it to not come back
Hello,
I must inform you that plant medicine is used to treat your symptoms and not a diagnosis.

My advice and suggestions will be of more use to you if you share your symptoms.

In addition, plant medicine is not recommended to treat that which is already being treated with pharmaceutics. If you are taking any medications and suffering from side effects, these side effects can treated with herbal formulas just, again, not that which your taking medications for.

I hope that makes sense, but let me know either way and I'd be glad to help.
Lupus is an autoimmune disease. The medical literature would define Lupus
as "losing self tolerance", which in plain speak means that you don't love
yourself. Your body attacks itself. This sounds simplistic but can
actually be profound. Discovering the roots of not loving yourself usually
leads one back to their family of origin. Did a parent discourage you, or
verbally abuse you? Was there even worse abuse? Understanding that these
early messages have been internalised, and that you are now saying these
negative messages to yourself can be the beginning of change. Homeopathic
medicine is an elegant way to address these issues. In addition Chinese
herbs and accupuncture are also helpful in treating Lupus.

I am
Not surprised as Lupus is not considered curable. It is an inflammatory autoimmune condition that can be treated naturally. In my practice after a complete exam including blood testing I find tools such as acupuncture, nutritional intervention, and targeted nutraceuticals to be quite effective in managing patients such as you with Lupus. I encourage you to seek out a licensed ND who has experience with Lupus.
This is a big question because this depends a lot on family history, severity of the disease and lifestyle factors. I have worked with patients with Lupus and found natural and integrative therapies that regulate the immune system, reduce inflammation that seem to manage symptoms effectively but traditional Western medical approaches can be effective as well. In Naturopathic medicine we don't just treat the disease, we treat the whole person so what works for one person may not work for someone else. That is why sitting down to have a very thorough intake is important to get the right natural and/or integrative treatment for you. I wish I had a simple answer but I would says it depends on you and all the aspects of your health to determine the best way to approach your treatment. Inflammation is a common denominator of any autoimmune disease so ask your doctor about starting an anti-inflammatory diet for starters! Best wishes to you.
As Lupus is an autoimmune condition in which the body attacks itself - the first approach we are going to take as naturopathic physicians is in addressing the cause. Please contact your local naturopathic physician to help you with healing inside out.
Lupus is an auto-immune disease that has many causes so there is no specific answer that can be given. However, diet and key herbs have incredible results to modulate the immune system.
