Gastroenterologist Questions Food Allergy

I have nausea and headache after eating red meat. What should I do?

I woke up in the morning to a bad headache and nausea after eating a steak last night. I've also noticed this happen when I have any kind of red meat in general. Why could this be? I eat red meat maybe once every two weeks.

Very hard to say why you would get headache and nausea after eating red meat. There may not be a direct connection. Consider what else is ingested along with the meat - e.g. alcohol, other fatty foods? It may be dehydration or another factor, but it would take a thorough history to try to discover the cause.
Avoid eating red meat and watch if your symptoms resolve.
It is possible that you are allergic to red meat. There is a condition in which a person can have an allergy to a carbohydrate in the red meat, something called alpha-gal allergy. It is also known as mammalian meat allergy. You can be tested for it or, perhaps, go without eating red meat. The latter brings additional health benefits.
