Hi there, Musculoskeletal pain is one of the most common and frequent pains we feel. It is often from poor biomechanical movement and or "overuse" injuries that tend to fatigue issues and eventually cause changes at the cellular level that end up causing pain. I good history and physical exam can help narrow down the issue and get you back to 100% but age is no indication of pain. You can and should be back to 100% with the right treatment!
The nerves in the neck refer into and control the shoulder. Finding the right Chiropractor is critical. https://www.coxtechnic.com/physicians.aspx
Sorry, your shoulder and neck are bothering you. Many people today are looking down at their smartphones texting or surfing the internet. This usually entails that they are in a postural position that increases pressure and tension on their neck and shoulders. If this is you, then when texting or surfing the internet, place your smartphone at eye level so you don’t have to look down for prolonged periods of time. This will decrease stress on your neck and shoulders. Good posture is important with any position that you're in. If it continues to bother you with these changes and with stretching it, then seek a Healthcare professional to examine it and help your discomfort. I could help you, or you can always see your primary care provider for relief too.
Neck and shoulder pain are often related. If you have had it for more than a week, you should consider making an appointment with a good, local Chiropractor and get an examination to determine an accurate diagnosis and a good treatment plan to help. Take care and be well.
