Gastroenterologist Questions Digestive System

How can I heal my digestive system after surgery?

I recently underwent a surgery for which I had to take a lot of medication. It has taken a complete toll on my digestive system causing frequent heartburn and loose motions. What can I do to heal my digestive system?

You must see your doctor about this, but starting a daily probiotic seems to be a good idea.
By eating a healthy diet of protein, salad, and veggies. Taking a Probiotic can help your colon after all the antibiotics you took after surgery.
Not sure if "heal" is the right word since there is probably no true damage to your intestines, but you may certainly have experienced a change in gut flora from antibiotics. Use Probiotics daily to help with this. For heartburn then use ranitidine or omeprazole over the counter. For stronger anti-acid meds, then prescriptions may be needed. If diarrhea persists, then see a primary care doctor or gastroenterologist.
It will take a bit of time to improve, especially if you were without eating for some time. As a general rule, you want to add probiotics to your daily regimen as well as eat foods that are easy to digest and are not hyper-allergenic (associated with allergy producing). Increasing activity helps as well as drinking at least 64 oz of water daily.
