“I recently had some cancer removed from my face and both eyes are swollen?”
I recently had some cancer basal removed from my face and my eyelids are slightly bruised. Is this normal? The skin has sorted come over my lid so hard to put eye make up on.

Im sorry youre going through this but yes, what youre describing can be normal after basal cell carcinoma BCC removal, especially when its near the eyes. Heres a breakdown of what youre likely experiencing and when to be concerned Whats Normal After Basal Cell Removal Near the Eye Bruisingswelling around the eyelids Very common, particularly if the procedure involved delicate areas like the inner or outer canthus corners of the eye or eyelid margin. The skin around the eyes is thin and bruises easily. Skin tightness or puckering Healing skin can contract slightly as it forms new tissue, sometimes giving a pulled appearance that can make eyelid movement or makeup application tricky. Crusting, scabbing, or slight discoloration Typical for a few days to weeks, depending on the sizedepth of removal. Difficulty applying makeup If the eyelid is still swollen or healing skin has created a slight ridge or pull, its best to avoid makeup for a bit longer to prevent irritation or infection. When to Call Your Dermatologist or Surgeon Increasing redness, warmth, or puslike drainage Could signal infection. Vision changes, excessive tearing, or sharp eye pain May indicate deeper involvement or complications near the tear duct or muscles. Skin that appears excessively pulled, distorting your eyelid shape May require minor correction, but often improves over time on its own. No healing progress after 23 weeks Could indicate delayed healing or residual cancer, depending on the technique used e.g. Mohs surgery vs excision.
Yes this is normal it is from the edema from the area where your skin cancer surgery was performed . Col compresses help and it will eventually resolve . Sent from the all new AOL app for iOS
Depending on the location of the excised lesion was, it is normal to have bruising and swelling. This will resolve in time. If there is a discharge or frank bleeding you should consult your doctor, or if you have a fever, otherwise with time your skin should go back to normal.
You should contact the surgeon who performed the procedure asap. If there is an infection, you must be evaluated immediately.
Wait for the eyelid to heal after the basal was removed. The swelling will be temporarily related to the the basal cell removal. Would follow in several weeks to be sure that the swelling resolved back to normal.
