Is depression and obesity directly correlated?

I am a 30 year old female. I want to know is depression and obesity directly correlated?

Not in every case, but in some situations depression can lead to overeating and obesity.
In many cases it is. Some individuals naturally battle depression and eating (particular carbs) is used as a coping mechanism. Others are overweight and it is depressing. Some depression medications will cause weight gain as well.
It appears that obese people are more likely to experience a mood disorder such as depression in comparison with those who are not obese. People who are obese often have poor self-image, low self-esteem, & experience social isolation, which all may be associated with depression.
