Is gallbladder surgery safe for elderly?

My grandmother is 80 years old. She will have gallbladder surgery. Is gallbladder surgery safe for the elderly?

Surgery can be done safely at any age. Surgery can also be risky at any age if someone has multiple medical problems. Older patients should make sure that any of their medical problems are optimized. Recovery from surgery may take longer in an older patient compared to a younger one.
Yes, it is safe as long as she is healthy for her age. If she is frail and has many comorbidities then the surgery will be higher risk. The surgeon needs to decide with her about whether the benefits outweigh the risks.
Age is not the issue. She must be cleared by Cardiology and Pulmonology if there are any lung issues.
