I will have cataract surgery next week. Is it painful?

Cataract surgery is generally not painful and can usually be treated with a local anesthesia or even eye drops during surgery these days. Post operatively most ophthalmologists will suggest over the counter pain relief if needed like acetaminophen or motrin to relieve pain. Otherwise, it's a common procedure that patients recover from in a matter of days. Consult your ophthalmologist for more information as it pertains to you.
Cataract surgery should not painful at all. You should be quite comfortable throughout the procedure. Please discuss this with your surgeon and anesthesiologist before the procedure.
Cataract surgery should not be painful. Most use IV sedation with versed. Also sometimes we use preservative-free lidocaine inside the eye.
You will be placed under a mild sedation and should not feel any pain. As it is surgery, you will have some eye discomfort the following day. This should be minimized by following your doctors eye drop routine post surgery.
