“Is it common for 16-year-olds to have ovarian cysts?”
After experiencing some irregularities in her menstrual cycle, my daughter's OB-GYN found a few ovarian cysts. She said they should go away on their own, but if they don't, my daughter may need to be on birth control for them. She's only 16 years old though, and I just feel like she's too young to get them. Is ovarian cysts common in her age group?

Benign cysts are frequent during the reproductive life of women, but malignant cysts are rare at this age.
