Is kidney surgery high risk in teenagers?

My 14 year old son needs kidney surgery. Is kidney surgery high risk in teenagers?

No but certainly depends on the type of surgery
Really depends on the kind of surgery. Best to ask the surgeon who is performing the surgery.

His age of 14 should not change the degree of risk of surgery. It's not clear from your question what type of surgery and why. This can be from very simple endoscopic surgery through the bladder, to laparoscopic surgery for blockage of kidney or other congenital issues (things that he was born with). Every surgery carries risks, but in experienced hands rate of complications are generally very low. Make sure you discuss rationale, risks, benefits, and alternative treatments with your physician.
