Is low hemoglobin normal after COVID?

I have low hemoglobin after a COVID infection. Is it normal? Should I see a doctor?

Not “normal”, but expected as Covid seems to cause transient bone marrow suppression. The bone marrow is the “factory” of the red blood cells / hemoglobin. It can take weeks, even months for hemoglobin to normalize after covid 19 infection. Consider following up with Primary Care Provider (PCP) and getting labs repeated every few weeks to establish hemoglobin behavior. Your PCP can make decision to refer to Hematology (blood specialist).
A slight anemia after a serious infection may be normal. I have no idea of the level to which you are referring and it would be a good idea to have this evaluated by a competent physician.
There may be a slight decrease in hemoglobin with a mild COVID infection and more of a drop with a severe infection. If you have a low hemoglobin concentration, you should be evaluated for blood loss.
