Dental Hygienist Questions Periodontist

Is there an alternative to gum surgery?

I have receding gums and want to treat them. Is there an alternative to gum surgery?

I would assume it would depend upon the reason your gums are receding. Your best bet is to talk to a periodontist. Find one who does conventional gum surgery (I assume you already did this); then find one who does laser surgery and ask about that. Also ask about something called the "Pinhole Technique," which is a way of dealing with recession. I, personally, don't know enough about this topic to be able to advise you, even if I had seen you in person, but at least you're pointed in a direction. Good luck.
There may be more than one option to treat a a particular issue. I would see a periodontist and discuss your concerns and options.
There are many approaches to gum disease treatment, including home
therapeutics, laser, gum surgery and grafting. The approach depends on
the severity of the disease and that is best determined by your dentist.
