“Lupus pain?”
I was diagnosed at age 59 (last year) my rheumatologist has done blood work only once in a years time. I am having dull but constant pain on my right side in the back in the rib cage area. It had been going on for months. I have huge black circles under and around d my eyes and I am constantly in pain.

Medications: Plaquinel

You need to see yourRheumatologist and he can communicate with your primary care office as to the evaluation of these symptoms
you need to do have blood work up as well as X ray chest to see disease activity of lupus. so please see your doctor.

Lupus has many different symptoms. Although pain can very well be part of lupus, it can also be a symptom of another issue. I would address these new concerns with your rheumatologist. Regarding lupus and timing of bloodwork - we normally check blood work on our active lupus patients once every 3-4 months. This does vary by practitioner.
