“My AST/ALT ratio?”
My blood work results today show an AST of 40 and an ALT of 39. ALP, Bilirubin, and Albumin are all in the middle of the reference ranges. What has me so worried is that I read an AST/ALT ratio over 1 indicates cirrhosis, and mine is 1.025. How concerned should I be?

Thats a little high but not alarmingly so. I recommend you seenyour provider for additional tests. Increase your fluid intake. Avoid alcohol and tylenol.
Your AST is 40 and ALT is 39, which are both within or very close to normal limits. The ASTALT ratio of 1.025 is only slightly above 1 and not concerning, especially since your other liver function testsALP, bilirubin, and albuminare all in the normal range. An ASTALT ratio over 1 can sometimes be seen in advanced liver disease, but typically with much higher enzyme levels and other abnormal labs. Based
