Neck and shoulder pain?

My husband and myself contracted the virus on Dec 24th. We are both better from the virus. My husband unfortunately has been having severe neck and shoulder pain going on 7 days now. He did have an doc's appointment which had to be rescheduled because his doctor is sick. The pain is so severe he can't sleep and he moans constantly. He's leary about the ER with all this corona stuff. What should we do? He did have the pain prior but not so severe.

I will definitely seek out an physical evaluation of his cervical and thoracic spine including imaging of the spine to rule out any degeneration that might be occluding his nerves at the nerve root or spinal cord.
Good to hear that you and your husband are feeling better. One side effect of the virus can be unexplainable muscle aches. Even though he is better, he still may have some symptoms that are lingering. My advice is to gently stretch his neck and upper back and even incorporate some dynamic stretches. Stay hydrated and keep moving. Try to get the appointment with your doctor and be evaluated especially if pain and stiffness does not lessen. Try to stretch 3-4 times/day.
Probably has arthritis in the neck with associated nerve pinch.Temporary heat and massage can help with anti-inflammatory meds. You need follow up care including X-rays.
