Pain under right breast near the ribs?

I am a 21 year old girl and am experiencing pain under my right breast near the ribs since yesterday. It seems to be a muscle strain to me but still would like to consult a doctor. The pain is dull and it pains more when I cough a bit otherwise no issue.

Because it worsens when you cough it does sound like a rib muscle strain. Does it hurt with movement, deep breath? That would be a strain. Now if you are having a productive cough, any elevated temperature, wheezing, or anything resembling an infection you need to call or see your doctor then to rule out pneumonia. If you have tried ibuprofen, if not allergic to it or don’t have kidney damage, and that helped it looks, again, like a strain.
You mentioned coughing, that could be the reason for the muscle pain. Normally, intercostal muscles get sore and sometimes strain with frequent coughing, so get rid of the cough and it might disappear. If it persists, then find your doctor and let him have a look.
Yes, you need to see your doctor. There is not enough information here for me to make a diagnosis. A physical exam is required.
