Paronychia infection?

I have paronychia on the middle finger. I'm taking bacterial antibiotics but have a white area on the right side of my nail. Will the antibiotics take care of this or do I have to go back in to get it drained?

The antibiotics will keep the infection from spreading into the skin, blood, etc., but to help the pocket of pus drain faster, it would be best to soak your finger in an Epsom salt solution two to three times daily for up to 10 minutes. No need to get it drained at the medical office.
The antibiotic may do the job, but sometimes lancing is sometimes required.
