Dentist Questions Dental Implants

Should I avoid eating certain items with an artificial tooth?

After an extraction, I had an implant put in place since it was one of my teeth in the front of my mouth. Now that I have it, I want to take care of it properly. Should I be avoiding certain foods with a dental implant?

Avoid biting into hard and sticky food. Apples cut it in pieces and always bite on the side of your mouth. If you can break a natural tooth, you can break anything in your mouth. Take care of your gums by brushing gently. You don’t want your gums to recede.
Absolutely, avoid chewing gum, avoid foods that are very hard. No meat NEXT to the bone like ribs. Avoid caramel apples, hard bagels for six to eight weeks.
Crunchy food, no breaking nut shells.
Just avoid biting hard food for 2 months
Popcorns and nuts are not friendly with artificial teeth
Olives with pits and chicken bones
No, you don't hav to avoid anything with your artificial implant tooth. Continue good home care of brushing and flossing like your natural teeth.
I also have a dental implant on one of my top, front teeth. I avoid tearing or ripping into hard foods. I won't bite into a sandwich on hard, crusty bread. Be careful biting into fruit that contains a hard pit in the middle.
Other than that, enjoy.
You should have been given instructions on how to care for an implant. You should chew lightly because the implant does not contain nerves that respond to biting forces as do natural teeth. You should get the implant professionally cleaned four times yearly. You should rinse daily with an antibiotic mouthwash containing chlorhexidine.
