Well, it would depend on age, weight, and height. Generally those > 18 years with BMI > 30 should first be referred to a Registered Dietitian for an assessment and possible recommendations for weight loss. If BMI > 40 they should be referred to a bariatric center. Alternatively, an assessment of risk by one’s PCP may suffice.
