Eyedrops are definitely indicated for eye infections. The issue is which medication to use. Is the infection bacterial, viral , fungal , chemical or sterile. Using the incorrect medication can make it worse. A proper diagnosis is essential. OTC drops might supply comfort but are not curative
If you have been seen by an ophthalmologist and confirmed to have an infection, the answer is yes.
