Side effects going off of Trazodone

My daughter has been on Trazodone 50mil and Cymbalta 50 mil for 5 weeks. She has been put on Nortriptylene 10 mil in place of the Trazodone and is still taking Cymbalta 50 mil as of last night. Today she has terrible symptoms of extreme nausea, sweats, shakes, anxiety. All symptoms of withdrawal from Trazodone. No one told her that Trazodone was addictive or that she should not just go off of it without being weaned off. Now she is afraid. She doesn't know what to do tonight, and what tomorrow will bring if she takes the Nortiptylene and Cymbalta and stays off the Trazodone. How is she going to feel tomorrow? Should she just stay on the Trazodone and Cymbalta and not take the Nortriptylene until she can see her prescriber again? Unfortunately her prescriber is on vacation until next week.

Yes stopping Trazodone abruptly can cause withdrawal symptoms. Trazodone usually has a safer side effect profile than nortryptyline so I would resume the Trazodone and Cymbalta and stop nortryptyline you can see your doctor again.
